Taipei City New Immigrant Participatory Budgeting Proposal Meeting
The Department of Civil Affairs hosted a participatory budgeting proposal meeting on July 22, 2016. During the meeting, the Department of Civil Affairs, the Department of Social Welfare, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Health took turns to introduce new immigrant policy measures and budgets. Then, professor Wei Hsiu-Chen lead the participants in understanding the proposal process and writing method, and consolidated feasible programs.
Through discussion, new immigrants presented five proposals, passing three of them. The three approved proposals are: When We Are All Together - Local Learning Series; Second Generation New Immigrant Education Planning; and New Immigrant Empowerment, Performance, and Employment 3 in 1 Package.
The next phase of the workshop will form more detailed proposals. After the proposals pass review, budgetary assessments, and Taipei City Council supervision, they will officially be government policy and budgeted for implementation.
